Crock-Pot Dump Cake: Warm Dessert for Cold Tailgate
Try out this super easy dessert for your next tailgate! The Crock-Pot Dump Cake is so easy that you’ll wonder why you haven’t been doing this forever.
Plus it has fruit, so it’s healthy, right?
Perfect Fall Tailgating Dessert
These dump cakes are great for the cool to cold tailgates. Who doesn’t like a warm cobbler type dessert when it is cold?
And it’s rich and tasty, so sure to be a crowd pleaser.
It’ll take about 5 minutes to prep and set to cooking. With such a quick prep time, you don’t need to prepare this dessert ahead of time.
Instead, use a medium size saucepan on your RV stove to melt the butter. Then mix in the cake mix. Use a regular spoon to mix it up by hand until it is crumbly.
Don’t use your big Kitchen Aid mixer. (Like you brought that mixer in your RV anyways!) You do not want a smooth texture here. Pour it over the pie filling in the Crock-Pot and set it cooking.
Great for Baking While At the Game
It’ll take about 2 to 2.5 hours to finish if you cook it on high. About 4 to 4.5 hours on low.
So if you are staying at the tailgate during the football game, set it to cook on high at about half-time. It’ll be ready when everyone else gets back to the RV.
If everyone is going into the game, then set it on low and it’ll still be ready when you get back from the game. This dump cake recipe will also work great for those spring baseball tailgates.
The baking cake leaves a nice pleasant smell in the RV. People want to know what you are making and are drooling by the time you set it out.
Top it off with a large dollop of Cool-Whip or vanilla ice cream. If you go with the blueberry pie filling, then you could add a homemade blueberry syrup over the Cool-Whip or ice cream. We can never have too many layers of goodness on a tailgating dessert!
So Many Possibilities with these Cakes
I’ve tried this recipe out now with blueberry pie filling and peach pie filling.
Both were excellent! I can’t wait until I need another dessert to try the cherry pie filling next.
Cinnamon apple, regular apple, blackberry, raspberry, strawberry… and on and on.
With so many possibilities, you’ll have something new every time you have to show up with a dessert. People will think you are a domestic goddess. Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me!
I think I’ll start keeping a cake mix and pie filling on hand when I need a quick dessert. So easy and so yummy! It has really hit the spot at the last two tailgates, when the temperatures finally turned a bit colder.
