Bacon Wrapped Asparagus: Easy Tailgate Appetizer
Need an easy appetizer for your next tailgate? Already have the grill fired up?
Then throw some bacon wrapped asparagus on there for an easy, kind of healthy appetizer.
Some times, getting veggies into people at a tailgate can be difficult. So know your audience and wrap them in bacon. Seriously, even the guys that didn’t want to eat the green stuff still ate their veggies.
I made these as part of our pot-luck smoked chicken dinner at Atlanta Motor Speedway for my first NASCAR weekend. The bacon wrapped asparagus were a big hit with everyone in attendance.

My friend Mac had his smoker fired up to cook the chicken. We put the bacon wrapped asparagus on the rack above the chicken so that the bacon fat would drip down onto the chicken for that little bit of extra flavoring. The flavors from the smoked corned beef or smoked pork butt would also be excellent.
If you don’t have a smoker, don’t worry. You could easily do these on the grill. You could even do these in the oven at home.
Without further adieu, here’s the recipe for the easiest tailgate appetizer.
